Israel Padonu is a contemporary Nigerian artist, born in Badagry, Lagos, who graduated in Creative Arts from Tai Solarin University of Education. His work often focuses on cultural heritage, incorporating elements from his Nigerian background, and he is also known for his use of upcycled mixed media. Padonu won the 2017 "Painter of the Year" award from the Creative Arts Students' Association and was the overall winner of the 2020 Goge Africa Art Contest.

BACKGROUND
Born in 1987 in Badagry, Lagos, his father was a signwriter, and he was introduced to art at a young age.

EDUCATION
A 2017 graduate of Tai Solarin University of Education with a degree in Creative Arts, he specialized in painting.

ARTISTIC FOCUS
His art draws inspiration from Nigerian culture, history, and heritage, often featuring elements like the Zangbeto Masquerade and Sato drums.
